Save Heywood’s Identity in Parliament
Heywood is a proud town with a proud history and we have had a clear identity as a parliamentary constituency since 1885.
I am extremely concerned that the Boundary Commission recommends the removal of the name of Heywood from any parliamentary constituency, and to make our town just one small part of a new ‘Rochdale’ constituency.
Sign the petition below, and join me in demanding that the Boundary Commission recognise Heywood’s significance and put a stop to any further attempts to subsume the town’s proud name into that of a larger but in no way superior town.
You will be able to sign the petition until October 31st, after which I will be presenting it to Parliament as soon as possible. Please support our campaign!
UPDATE: THIS PETITION IS NOW CLOSED. THANK YOU TO ALL THOSE WHO SINGED IT FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
