Brexit vote delayed
Brexit vote delayed

Yesterday the Prime Minister shelved the vote on her Brexit deal. We don’t know when the vote will now take place, or what the deal will ultimately look like.

The PM gave the game away in her statement when she said that the longer we delay, the more we risk an accidental no deal scenario. It would be utter folly for any government to stumble into such a situation.

This shambolic government are in complete chaos and quite frankly our country deserves better.

The delay in the vote meant that sadly I didn’t get chance to speak fully on behalf on my constituents regarding the PM’s deal, but I did get to express the anger that I know voters will be feeling at her weak decision to delay the inevitable.

As well as urging the PM to press ahead with the Brexit vote yesterday, I asked the Brexit Secretary how confident he was that we would leave with a deal on 29th March 2019. His answer? ‘Very’. Given this shambolic government’s track record for competency, I fail to find his brief and dismissive answer reassuring.
