Liz welcomes new Labour MP to parliament

Today I had the honour of accompanying our newest MP, Dr Rosena Allin-Khan, as she was sworn in at parliament.

Rosena asked me to be one of the two MP supporters who walk alongside her whilst she was sworn in. My colleague Clive Efford MP, who organised her campaign, was the other MP supporter.

Rosena was elected in the Tooting by-election earlier this month to replace Sadiq Khan, following his election as London Mayor in May.

It was my privilege to campaign in Tooting for Rosena, where I saw first-hand how much she cares about Tooting and its residents. She was a brilliant candidate and I have no doubt that she will make a great MP.

I am honoured that Rosena asked me to accompany her as she was sworn in, and I look forward to working with her in parliament.
