Liz joins Labour frontbench

I am happy to announce I have been appointed to the Labour frontbench as a Shadow Minister in the Department for Communities and Local Government team.

It is a huge honour and responsibility to be called to serve on the frontbench and I am particularly excited to be working in the Communities and Local Government team with Jon Trickett, Steve Reed, Lord Kennedy and Lord Beecham.

We know only too well in Heywood and Middleton that local government is being savagely cut by the Tories, and that these cuts are disproportionately harsh on councils in the North of England and those held by Labour. I look forward to holding the government to account on these issues and helping to lead the fightback in Parliament.
