Why I'm Backing the Emergency First Aid Education Bill

On Friday 20th November I will be supporting my Labour colleague Teresa Pearce MP who is bring an Emergency First Aid Education Bill to parliament.

I have been contacted by lots of residents urging me to support the Bill and I am more than happy to do so. The bill is supported by many charities including St.John Ambulance, British Heart Foundation and the British Red Cross, and I hope it will get the support of MPs from both sides of the Commons.

I believe that the Bill, which would make emergency first aid education compulsory in all state-funded secondary schools, would make a real difference to the quality and availability of emergency first aid. Teaching our children these skills is an essential but often overlooked part of education, and I am delighted to give the proposals my support.
